It’s been in the works for some time, but we finally have a trailer for the Kalief Browder documentary. Jay Z has partnered up with Spike TV Network and Weinstein Television to bring the six-part tv series to life.

The documentary Time: The Kalief Browder Story tells the heartbreaking story of Kalief Browder. He was a 16-year-old student who ended up spending three years on Rikers Island after not being able to make his $10,000 bail. Browder was never convicted of a crime, as he spent two of those years in solitary confinement while awaiting his trial. Initially, he was arrested for allegedly stealing a backpack. While Browder served his time on Rikers Island, he suffered from three years of abuse by inmates and guards. In 2015, Browder committed suicide. He was only 22.

Kalief Browder’s story is beyond tragic and it’s another case of the criminal justice system failing those it was created to protect. Browder’s story obviously sparked the interest of rapper/mogul Jay Z, and now his story will be told to the world.
