The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame foundation was established in 1983 by Atlantic Records. The purpose of the museum was to showcase and archive the most influential producers, artists, and other key people in rock and roll music’s history. To be nominated, there must at least be a span of 25 years between the year of nomination and the year of the artist’s first release.

Rapper and hip hop legend Tupac Shakur has been nominated to be one of the 2017 inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 2Pacalypse Now was his debut album, released in 1991, and about 4 years later he released Me Against the World, which eventually became his first No.1 album.

Some of the other nominees are Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan, and Pearl Jam. The hip hop rap group NWA was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, and now Tupac Shakur may be joining his west coast comrades.

Shakur definitely deserves this honor, his impact on hip hop was epically influential.

The 2017 inductees will be announced in December and those who will be officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be announced in April of 2017.
