Spike Lee recently interviewed with Rolling Stone to discuss his new documentary Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall, which was released earlier this year.

During the documentary a letter from Michael Jackson himself is read aloud. Michael Jackson states how he wanted to be called “MJ” and he also writes; “I want to be the greatest entertainer of all time”. Talk about speaking things into existence.

Spike Lee speaks pretty highly of MJ during the interview. In fact, anyone who's pursuing their dreams and walking their own path to success, could learn a few things from the interview, and maybe even it apply some of the gems dropped to their own journey.

When Lee was asked about the letter written by MJ he says:

“He's already visualizing what he wants to do, who he wants to become … how's he going to get to that point so he can become that person. You can see he had a blueprint, he had a plan even when he was young. It was not haphazard.  It was not an accident. This shit was planned! Let's be clear about one thing, though: He made that shit happen. There was no hocus pocus, abracadbra going on here; he worked his ass off to get to that level.”

Visualization is the key to manifesting dreams. You have to already believe you have it before it comes, and it isn’t some magical experience where it all just appears out of thin air, you have to create what you desire, you have to work for what you want. MJ is the greatest of all time. He made a major impact on the culture by putting his all into the dream he wanted to manifest.

If you want to be successful at whatever you do, plan for it. Give it your all.

During the interview, Spike Lee also talked about MJ’s strong work ethic, and how he was basically a human sponge. Lee’s objective for the documentary?  To “remind people that he made this incredible music, and to tell them how he got there.”

Spike Lee seem passionate about presenting Michael Jackson’s musical journey from a different perspective and being able to remind people why he will forever be in the books as the greatest.Sometimes MJ’s art and influence is lost within all the rumors and controversies, so it’s good to see the light placed back on what made us all love the man who changed everything in the music industry during his time.
