Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, came together in 1985 to form the hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest.

A Tribe Called Quest went on to become one of the most influential hip hop groups of all time, by giving us classics such as; Electric Relaxation, Bonita Applebum, Can I Kick?, and Scenario just to name a few.

Earlier this year, Phife Dawg, founder of the group passed away at 45-years-old.

In Queens, New York, the corner of Linden Boulevard and 192nd Street was renamed Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor Way in his honor. On the same corner, a mural was painted on Nu Clear Dry Cleaner’s wall, which was also the location for their 1991 music video for Check The Rhime.

The short documentary below shows the making of the mural as well as some insight on A Tribe Called Quest’s influence on hip hop. Enjoy.
