Underground Atlanta Has Been Sold!

Underground Atlanta is a pretty historic area for Atlanta. Many Atlanta natives are bound to have at least a story or two from their Underground Atlanta experience.

Thursday (March 16) morning, the deal for selling Underground Atlanta was  finalized. The area was purchased by WRS Real Estate Investments, a property group out of South Carolina.

According to reports, Mayor Kasim Reed had been trying to sell the property for over 10 years now. Underground Atlanta was sold for $34.6 million. The property group has plans to turn the space into a residential area and shopping center.

It’s unfortunate to see the Underground go as Atlanta continues to receive more add-ons. How does the community feel about this decision? Well, the Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association is apparently questioning the legal aspect of this acquisition.

However, as of now, Underground Atlanta will soon be just another figment of Old Atlanta.
